Overview

Indikator

An end-to-end encrypted messaging app that syncs across all your devices without requiring a phone number. Encrypted so completely that even the platform cannot read your messages.

The Problem

Messaging apps force a choice.
They shouldn't.

01

Privacy-first apps

Encryption is strong but device-bound. Multi-device sync is awkward. A phone number is required just to sign up.

02

Convenience-first apps

Seamless sync and centralized data, but phone number lock-in. Privacy is optional, not default.

03

Enterprise apps

Centralized and convenient, but owned by companies with conflicting incentives. Privacy is claimed, not verifiable.

The Gap

The current landscape presents
a false binary.

Strong Encryption
vs
Multi-device Sync

Apps that encrypt well don't sync well. Apps that sync well don't encrypt well. Users are forced to sacrifice one for the other, a tradeoff that shouldn't exist.

Core Thesis

Encryption and convenience
are not mutually exclusive.

Today

Choose one

Indikator

Both, by design

Other apps make you choose between privacy and convenience. Indikator gives you both.

Encryption happens at the device layer. Centralized storage enables sync without compromising privacy.

Client-side open source: every security claim is verifiable by reading the code.

Platform

Three layers. One platform.

Layer 01

Auth

Email-based signup with master password and optional 2FA. Keys are derived from your password, never stored on the platform. Recovery via recovery phrase.

Layer 02

Encrypt

End-to-end encryption on every message, every device. Messages are encrypted before leaving your device. The platform holds ciphertext only.

Layer 03: Core Differentiator

Sync

Centralized encrypted storage enables seamless multi-device sync. Sign in anywhere. Your full conversation history is instantly available.

Multi-device Instant Sync Encrypted at Rest

Zero-Knowledge Architecture

What the platform can and cannot see

Device-side Encryption

Messages are encrypted on your device before transmission. The server never sees plaintext.

Keys Never Leave Your Device

Encryption keys are derived from your master password locally. We have no copy and cannot decrypt on your behalf.

No Search or Interception

We cannot search, read, or intercept your conversations. The platform is blind to message content by design.

Verifiable Claims

Client-side code is open source under AGPL-3.0. Anyone can audit the encryption implementation.

No Phone Number

Identity is email-based. No phone number required. No carrier linkage, no SIM swap risk.

Recovery Without Trust

Account recovery uses a recovery phrase you control. We cannot reset your access or read your data to do so.

Differentiation

Everything you want.
Nothing you don't.
